Car Insurance is the ideal product to sell online; the insurance premium is determined by a number of detailed factors (age, accident history etc) which can very efficiently be collected online and there is no need for human intervention - even for 'over the phone' quotes, a computer is used to calculate the insurance premium. Another reason is that insurance is an 'intangible' product - i.e. there is no physical product to be delivered (apart from the insurance certificate - which can now actually be delivered online.
